services
While in our care we can assure the safety and security of your artwork. Proper storage, handling, temperature control, and security of all pieces are of utmost importance to us. Each piece is documented upon arrival, throughout the process, and at completion. All methods and materials are employed in compliance with AIC standards, with meticulous attention to detail and historical accuracy.
Paintings
Paintings are treated in accordance with conservation principles of reversibility, meaning that all modifications to painted works can be reversed, leaving the original unaltered. We accept paintings using tempera, oil, and acrylic paints, on a variety of mediums, including wood panel, canvas, and paperboard.
Cleaning
Removal of surface dirt, dust, fingerprints, old, damaged or discolored varnish, and previous restorations.
Stabilization
We can repair tears and punctures. Consolidate in order to strengthen the paint layer as well as the canvas. Flatten, reline, and stretch distorted materials.
Restoration
We will fill any image loss, perform in-painting (or retouching), and apply new varnish for protection.
Paper
We accept pencil drawings, prints, pastels, watercolors, screens, scrolls, architectural drawings, and letters and documents on paper, cardstock or cardboard supports.
Cleaning
We will remove surface dirt, dust, adhesive and previous restorations.
Stabilization
We employ a variety of methods to stabilize your paper: deacidification, consolidation, mold remediation, tear repair, lining, and replacement of acidic materials.
Restoration
As with paintings, we do fills, toning and in-painting (or retouching) of image loss.
